Keep your 2018 resolutions!
I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s spent with family and friends! With the arrival of my latest addition Nathan in November, I was blessed to spend it with the family I’ve always dreamed of.
The New Year is all about starting fresh. People like yourselves usually decide on a change they want to make in their life and make “New Year’s Resolutions” for the year. Abs by summer, cutting out alcohol, budgeting their money; the list goes on. Although the concept of a resolution is great, where people find trouble is keeping them.
According to the Fitness Industry Association, 14% of gym goers drop out after one month! Here at Nitro Lifestyle, we want you to step away from quick fixes and make a lifetime commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
So how do we keep those resolutions? Here are some tips:
- Set a short-term goal for a long-term result.
Wanting to lose 100 pounds by the end of the year is a great goal; however, it can be intimidating! You can keep the same result but make a short-term goal that will keep you focussed and motivated. An easier goal to keep is aiming to lose 2 pounds a week. You’ll still lose 100 by the end of the year and all you’ll have to think about is 2 pounds a week!
- Schedule time for your resolution
If there’s one thing we all have in common, it’s that we’re all busy. We can barely find time to do the things we love, let alone work towards our resolutions. To ensure success, you need to give your resolution the same priority as you would a work meeting or an event. This means, scheduling your gym sessions in your own personal calendar. Seeing it in there will also act as a reminder for yourself!
- Remember the buddy system?
Everything is better with a buddy. They’ll hold you accountable but also, they can help make it fun. There’s nothing wrong with a little friendly competition! It’s also great to state your goals to family and friends. Social accountability will help keep you on track as you have more people to answer to. So get on your Instagram and start posting progress pics!
Want to make money for keeping your resolution? There’s an app for that. Pact is a great app that allows you to put up money to give you an incentive to meet your fitness goals. It also uses your GPS to make sure you do what you say you will, and you can lose money if you cheat! For example, you can put up $5 for every time you want to go to the gym and put your schedule in. Miss a session, lose $5!
- Celebrate the little victories
You deserve it! Just like our Nitro Lifestyle Plan details, cheat meals are just as important to plan and enjoy. Treat yourself.
To help with long-term results, we’ve created an online support program! We have an e-book that follows the Nitro Lifestyle Plan and will be posting 12 brand new workouts per month. More importantly, we create an open space for you to discuss topics with our trainers about your concerns and progress.
I’m excited to see your progress and learn about how your resolutions are coming along! Make sure to hashtag #NitroLifestyle so we can keep in touch.
